AliExpress Dropshipping Miatakes You Couldn't Make

The truth about dropshipping is that, just like in any other business, it will work best if you put in some effort. Inexperienced entrepreneurs tend to repeat the same mistakes all beginners make - but that's not a problem! As long as you get guidance from someone who already has experience dealing with these issues, your shop will be fine.

Here I will introduce some mistakes most entrepreneurs always make. After reading the post, I hope you can know how to start a successful dropshipping business in 2022.

3 Top Mistakes

In this post, I will list the top 3 common mistakes first. For others, I will share with you one by one according to their frequency based on my own experience.

1. Ignoring AliExpress's Price Surge

As you know, the DSers automatic pricing rules can automatically change prices on your dropshipping online store depending on how they change on AliExpress. But just like in any other store, these prices and shipping costs never stay the same.

This way you don't have to check the price of every product on your website. But for the product you're promoting right now, ignoring these fluctuations can turn an ad campaign into a disaster.

For example, if AliExpress shipping suddenly goes up by $5, the cost to buy the product will not be $10, but $15. In some cases, it can completely "swallow" your margin and even push you into the red. That's why you should pay attention to the price, and when this happens, either change the price in your store or look for another supplier.

2. Ignore switching costs

Beginners typically estimate the potential spend on an item by adding up the wholesale price, shipping, and taxes on AliExpress. Therefore, anything above the result will become your profit.

But the truth about dropshipping is that this calculation works if the customers are coming from your organic traffic, which is mostly free users who found your site on Google. Most of the sales actually come from advertising. This is never free.

Conversion cost is a parameter that tells you how much you need to pay to convert a single user into a buyer. Or, in other words, how much you spent to get this person to buy something from you.

3. Sell cheap products in a single piece

It seems like a good idea to find great and cheap items on AliExpress and sell them at great prices. For example, this toy is really cheap. So if you start selling it, the profit will be huge, right? We used to think so.

The problem is that customers usually only buy one unit of this type of product. Because of the cost of switching, attracting buyers becomes very expensive - and all you get is a deal. Usually not worth it. That doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't sell affordable items. After all, as long as buyers are coming from organic traffic, that's perfectly fine. But if you want to advertise a product, you'd better choose something that people buy in bulk.

The 3 mistakes are what most dropshippers are most likely to make. Next, I will continue to share other mistakes.
